Kids,
Imagine watching a movie about your parents when THEY were young!Wouldn't it be neat to hear what their voices sounded like at your age?
What did their bedrooms look like? What were their favorite toys?
Create a documentary about your life now - to share with YOUR kids later!
· The Tour *
Every year, before your birthday, take someone on a tour of your bedroom. Show it like it normally is - messy or neat - your future kids will want to know! Tell your guest (and the camera) about your life. Talk about your parents, siblings, pets, best friends, teachers and classmates. Show off your favorite books, toys, and collections. Describe your favorite activities. Demonstrate any special skills or talents you have. Point out how you have your room decorated with favorite objects, posters, pictures, crafts, and school work. Venture further and extend the tour to the rest of your home, yard, neighborhood and town!
· What Will I Be?
Throughout the years you will learn about a lot of interesting careers. Every time you find one that seems interesting, dress in that occupation's uniform or gather some props from that job and put on a skit or give a talk about what would be neat about that career. If you take it a step further and go interview someone actually doing that job, you might be able to use it for a school assignment!
· The Actor!
Pretend you are on a talk show and tell the world about your life. What is your typical day like? What really funny or scary things have happened to you? Describe what it is like to be in your family. How are your parents similar to or different from THEIR parents or siblings. What are your favorite things to do with each of your family members, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends? Interview them and try to learn something you never knew about them!
* Parents:
Start taping that bedroom tour from your child's first month home! Their rooms (and your home!) will evolve every few MONTHS! Don't miss a stage - it will bring back wonderful memories for you later. Especially capture their voices as they change from the newborn cry to the sweet babbles, from the first giggle to the biggest belly laugh. Preserve those earliest conversations, attempts at reading and, most precious, their voices in song!
